WORKOUT OF THE DAY

So maybe it’s not such a big deal…

Ok – so sometimes you may think to yourself, what good is a little exercise going to do me?  What good is my health? Is all this worry over performance and body composition really worth it?

The following film may be a bit melodramatic (and a little graphic if you’ve never seen liposuction before) but is, nonetheless, making a valid point.  Health and fitness is no small matter.  The simple truth is that regardless of your genetic makeup we are all capable of maintaining a healthy body composition through the education and application of disciplined movement and a discerning diet of real food.

So when someone yells at you for taking your body a little too seriously…remember that it matters!

…and back to our regularly scheduled program… sorta…

Front squat 3-3-3-3-3 reps

What’s required:

1) Rigid, rock hard mid-line stabilization. A fence post like spine.
2) Freaky huge quads to handle the load given up by the hamstings.
3) Terrific ankle flexibility to handle the forward driving shins during the vertical torso phase.

Thanks again to CrossFit San Francisco for the words of squat-dom.

Mobility WOD

What’s That Funky Symbol?

This is an Adinkra Symbol. The wawa tree, a hard African wood, is revered for its quality as a medium for carving. Its seeds are extremely hard and serve as a symbol in Akan culture of strength, toughness, and perseverance.
